Bedford County Jail will be nation’s first to implement new prisoner service

BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Bedford County Jail will become the first in the nation to implement a program designed to eradicate drug delivery through mail and magazines.
The new system, designed by the company TextBehind, is set to go live Jan. 1. The book and magazine solution service is said to change inmate mail services to prevent contraband, mainly drugs, from entering the prison through the mailroom by 100%, CEO Zia Rana touts.
While the Bedford County Jail will be the first in the nation to implement the system, it currently uses TextBehind’s non-privileged (postal) mail service.
